The Story Behind The Mission
Let me start by saying who Apeiros is NOT for…
people who don’t enjoy meaningful stories
people who only want the status quo
people who don’t like to be intellectually challenged & entertained
people who don't want to support the artists and innovators of our society.
Apeiros was born out of idea #1. A novel.
I felt that I needed a better, or at least faster, and more communally involved medium of expression to tell the stories I wanted to tell and pass along some perspective I have gained over the years as it relates to life, culture, individualism, and community.
As a Black American, mainstream entertainment has long been absent in producing positive cultural narratives, characters, and story worlds (with real and true challenges). Most mainstream entertainment as it relates to Black America is either trauma-based or focused on slave stories.
Or they implement what I call "checklist diversity"—take familiar intellectual properties(IPs) and just tokenize, color, or gender-swap characters. This is the laziest form of entertainment and creativity one could do, and not a true or accurate expression of authenticity.
That's unacceptable.
There's so much talent and true diversity from creatives and artists across the globe and the time is right to put our time, effort, investment, and support into the independent creators who are carving new paths.
Apeiros is changing that narrative. And it starts here:

The Problem
After engaging with people from different backgrounds, I noticed that the root cause of many issues around the world is simply a lack of Self. Even though I can't solve all of these problems, this common factor was something that resonated with me—a lack of:
Self awareness
Self actualization
Self knowledge or Knowledge of Self
Self acceptance
In our society, which is based on hypermedia consumption, entertainment is a better way to bring about change and influence for a more positive outcome than the current education system.
Education is important. However, it’s not the same as public schooling—the public school system is slow, often boring, and outdated in terms of efficiency and relevance to keep students engaged and learning the necessary lessons, skills, and values for a better community.
It is in this system where the true knowledge of self discovery collapses, leading to so many people living out lives of quiet desperation, fear, and anxiety for the future and present in our culture.
Mainstream entertainment companies, from Disney to Amazon, have no interest in producing forward-moving and positive Black cultural entertainment or storytelling.
And to be fair, it’s not their responsibility, nor do I care. I have it within me to create what I want.
The Solution
Here’s what you can do:
Supporting this Kickstarter and others making similar strides across the medium, art form, and genres for our culture, to say: enough is enough. This is only the beginning :)
